Finding warm winter skirts that are long enough for older girls and tweens can be difficult, but Joyfully Sewn Designs offers many options perfect for them!
With four, and soon to be five daughters, there a lot of skirts in our house. Thanks to the maxi skirt fad, it’s been easier to find comfortable, long, and carefree skirts for my girls at typical stores.
However, one season tends to get me when it comes to finding skirts suitable for the weather, and that’s been winter for my oldest daughter. As she’s gotten taller, I’ve had a harder time finding warm skirts that are also long enough for her size.
Rarely I can find one at the thrift store, but mostly, these have to be bought new to find them just right. My daughter’s new favorite long skirt for the winter is really perfect for her, and it comes from one of my favorite online shops for modest girls clothing!
That store is Joyfully Sewn Designs, and if you have daughters, nieces, or granddaughters, you definitely want to check out this up-close look at the gorgeous Girls Charcoal Gray Corduroy A-Line Ruffle Skirt. Plus, Sarah is offering a $30 gift code to one reader!
When Sarah, who owns Joyfully Sewn Designs, asked about sponsoring another review and giveaway here, I knew right away who needed a quality skirt. (You can see the first review post here, and I have to say that my middle daughter still favors this dress that Sarah made!)
My oldest daughter turns 11 in a few days. As she’s gotten taller, it’s become more and more difficult to find skirts that are as long as she likes. She loves a full skirt that comes down almost to her ankles, and those are practically impossible to find in stores.
I knew Sarah wouldn’t let me down!
I saw a gray corduroy skirt on her shop and loved the material, color, and style. I knew it would be perfect for fall and winter, match about anything, and give my growing lady room to run and move with her friends.
However, it was about 5 inches shorter than what I knew my daughter would like. Sarah is such an excellent seamstress, though, and all I had to do was point out the style on the Joyfully Sewn Designs site that I liked, send her my daughter’s measurements, and ta-da!
Miss L truly has the perfect long winter skirt now!
When my daughter first tried on the skirt, she broke out into a huge smile, gave a little giggle, and was so excited to have such a pretty, long skirt. She loves the ruffle at the bottom and said right away that it would be so warm for fall and winter.
The elastic waistband on the skirt makes it very comfortable for a girl and also will allow her to wear it a little longer. The 8 a-line panels give a very flattering fit that allows for plenty of room to run while still looking classy. The ruffle adds a fun, feminine touch.
As always, Sarah’s sewing and attention to detail is top-knotch. The seams are so straight and professional and the entire garment is well-made. There’s not a hint of sloppiness with Sarah’s work!
My middle daughter has worn a dress from Joyfully Sewn Designs for two warm seasons, and it shows no sign of wearing out. I’m confident that this skirt will last a very long time, too.
If you’re having a hard time finding quality winter skirts for girls, be sure to visit Sarah’s store both on Artfire and on Etsy. If she doesn’t have just what you need, she is excellent with custom work, too! We really couldn’t be happier with this winter skirt.
