One of my blogging goals has been to share some hairstyle tutorials, but I’m almost embarrassed to say that it’s taken me a whole two years to finally get one done!
I’m really not much of a hair pro, but with four girls in the house and my own head of hair to work with, I at least need to have some good ideas from time to time.
I just recently learned how to make a really cute ruffled braid (at least I call it a ruffled braid) and was so excited to try it out on my oldest daughter. She and I both loved the results and think it is such a cute look!
While the braid is adorable on it’s own, I really like it pulled back in a drop bun style held off to the side. You can see how quickly this style comes together in the tutorial video I’m sharing today!
The video shows two variations of the style. The first variation is just the smaller section of hair, braided and ruffled, and then secured with a mini Flexi-Clip. Really sturdy bobby pins (I’m a fan of the Lilla Rose kind!) could hold it back, too.
The second variation is nice for showcasing the cute braid while also keeping your hair up. Drop buns are one of my favorite styles, and this really dresses one up.

Seriously, wasn’t that easy?
Give it a try sometime and tell me what you think!
Have you done a side braid like this before?
